herd! Original Soundtrack

The original score to herd!, filed here as twenty-four short pieces for a small band with an unusually alert rhythm section. Lyrical piano, round bass, soft pops and clicks, and the occasional bright color follow the flock from the first open field to the point where everything arrives at once.

These are themes rather than background beds. Each has a tune you can carry out of the level, a little harmonic weather of its own, and enough room for the band to notice what is happening. Motion changes the arrangement. Pressure tightens the conversation. The animals contribute mostly by refusing to observe form.

The performances heard in the game are responsive, so no two passes need to stand in exactly the same place. This edition keeps the book in order: four sides, six cues to a side, and no promise that the sheep will enter on cue.
